What actually matters is that I won't recommend a ship or a hotel unless I've stood in it myself, or I trust someone who has. Some months that means an Oceania culinary cruise; other months, an Antarctic expedition. Different trip, same rule.

I've been to most of these places myself—Venice, Santorini, Egypt, China, Sydney. So when you tell me where you want to go, I don't just point you in that direction. I pick the hotel. I pick the guide. I pick the best time to go. All you have to do is show up and enjoy it.
